Refund policy
Effective Date: January 20, 2026
OMOMUKI (hereinafter referred to as "the Store") establishes the following terms. By confirming an order, the customer is deemed to have agreed to these terms.
1. Final Sale Policy (No Returns/Cancellations)
- All Sales are Final: Because each product is a unique "one-of-a-kind" piece reconstructed from vintage materials, we do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations for customer convenience (e.g., change of mind, size issues, or color preferences).
- Cooling-off: The statutory "cooling-off" period does not apply to this online service.
2. Vintage Material Disclaimer (Read Carefully Before Purchase)
By purchasing, you are deemed to have accepted the following characteristics of upcycled vintage materials. No refunds will be issued for these reasons:
- Authentic Vintage Condition: Our products use antique/vintage kimonos. Fabric may contain minute abrasions, fading, faint spots, pinholes, or a distinct vintage scent. These are inherent characteristics of historical textiles and are not considered defects.
- Professional Care Only: Professional dry cleaning is mandatory. Any damage caused by home washing or improper handling will void any eligibility for a refund. No refunds will be issued for items that show signs of home washing.
- Digital Media: Colors and textures may appear differently depending on your viewing environment (monitor settings, device characteristics). This is not a valid reason for return.
3. Eligible Cases for Returns (Store Error Only)
Returns are accepted only if there is a significant error attributable to the Store, such as:
- The wrong item or quantity was delivered.
- Significant damage not mentioned in the product description (e.g., broken zipper, large tear) exists that hinders usage.
- Other cases where the product quality does not meet the contractual agreement.
4. Strict Return Conditions & Deadlines
Even if a return is authorized, the following conditions must be met:
- 3-Day Notification: You must contact us via email within 3 days of arrival. Due to the one-of-a-kind nature of our items, no exceptions will be made after this period or for claims made after departure from Japan.
- Unused Status: The item must be in its original, unused condition. We cannot accept returns for items that have been used, washed, cleaned, or altered.
- Packaging: All original tags and packaging must be returned. If the item is damaged due to poor return packaging, the refund may be denied or reduced.
5. Non-Delivery at Accommodations & Carrier Liability
- Carrier Issues: We are not liable for delays caused by weather, disasters, or carrier logistics. No refunds will be issued if the item does not arrive during your stay due to such reasons.
- Accommodation Risk: Shipment to hotels or temporary stays is at the customer's own risk. No refunds will be issued for non-arrival due to check-out, refusal, or changes in travel schedules. Original and return shipping fees will be deducted from your refund in such cases.
6. Refund Method & Currency
- Method: Refunds will be processed within 5 business days after the returned item is inspected. Refunds are issued exclusively via the original payment method (Shopify). No bank transfers are available.
- Refund Amount: The refund amount shall be the actual price paid by the user to the Store for the item.
- Currency Disclaimer: All refunds are processed in Japanese Yen (JPY). The Store is not responsible for any difference in the final amount received due to currency exchange rate fluctuations.
- No Exchanges: As all items are one-of-a-kind, we cannot offer exchanges for the same item. Only returns and refunds are available.
- Return Shipping: In cases of Store error, return shipping costs will be covered by the Store.
